Ecology

P. gardineri is usually found within the sand in seaward reef surge channels at depths of 10 to 20 meters. The specimens collected on this study were found on the reef crest within the rubble and sand.


P. gardineri spends most of its life time burrowed in the sand, but can be found crawling on sand, rocks or corals. This active action is most likely due to a searching pattern in order to locate and consume prey.
